Princess Rosethorn - Thorncrest Village - Houses
Thorncrest Village is situated on the North side of Rathburn Road, West of Islington Avenue and East of Kipling Avenue.
Thorncrest was originally the summer home of Sir William Pearce Howland, a Father of Confederation. The original farm house is on site and designated an Etobicoke Historic Site. The 100 Acre site was formed as Thorncrest Village in 1944. This community evolved and in 1975 an Association was formed with two similar requirements from the original by-laws being fence restrictions with regulated cutting of trees and the submission of plans for new home development for approval.
Since the lots were required to be large and the roads were planned in an east/west exposure to maximize the sunlight and curving, dead end streets controlled traffic, these lots are very desirable.
